Shopify Collaborator Access

Thank you for trusting Vibe Digital Marketing with your project. Shopify lets partners like us work on your store through a collaborator account. You send us a short code, we send a request, and you approve exactly what we can access. Collaborator accounts don’t count toward your store’s staff limit.

At a glance

  • You’ll need: the store owner or a user with the Administrator role
  • What to send us: your 4-digit collaborator code and your store’s .myshopify.com address
  • Time: about 5 minutes, in two short parts
  • Who to send it to: Use the email address your Vibe account manager gave you. Not sure which one? Email info@vibedigital.marketing and we’ll tell you.

Part 1: Send us your code

Step 1: Open Users

Log in to your Shopify admin, go to Settings, then Users (on some stores it’s Users & permissions).

Step 2: Copy your collaborator code

Open Security and click the 4-digit collaborator access code to copy it.

Step 3: Email it to us

Send the code and your store’s .myshopify.com address (for example, yourstore.myshopify.com) to your account manager. You’ll find that address under Settings > Domains.

Part 2: Approve our request

Step 4: Open the request

You’ll get an email and a notification in Shopify. Go to Settings > Users, click Requests, and open the request from Vibe Digital Marketing. Shopify shows our partner details so you can confirm it’s us.

Step 5: Review the permissions

The request lists the permissions we asked for. You can remove anything you’re not comfortable with. We typically ask for:

  • Online store: themes, code and pages
  • Products and files
  • Navigation menus
  • Marketing and reports
  • Apps and channels, only if we’re installing apps
  • Domains, only if we’re connecting your domain

We don’t need access to payments, billing or payouts, so leave those off.

Step 6: Accept

Click Accept request. That’s it, and we’ll let you know when we’re in.

Good to know

  • If you ever need to cancel the code, use Generate new code in the same Security area. The old code stops working.
  • Collaborator access ends automatically if we don’t log in for 90 days, and you can remove us any time from Settings > Users.
  • Collaborators can’t be made store owner or Administrator, so your store always stays in your hands.
